I am trying to create a column whereby i can generate a Unique ID for my documents. I have downloaded and installed the UniqueColumnPolicy.wsp from http://blogs.salmanghani.info/?p=570 and i can confirm that in the Central Admin Site under Solution Management the solution has been deployed globally, but i dont see the solution in the List Settings where the article says it should be??? Has anyone any ideas on this? Have i missed a step somewhere?

Having checked the original feature (http://features.codeplex.com/), this feature can be used on lists and libraries, both of which have the Information Management policy settings enabled when I try this out. Are you using MOSS or WSS?http://www.final-exodus.net

I see, thank you. What i am trying to do is create a unique document id for every document that is uploaded to the document library, i am aware that the library creates id`s but i have departmental sites of which have a document library in each site, so at some stage very soon there will be id`s of the same number albeit in different departments. Have you any ideas on how i can have unique id`s irrespective of what department the document is in?
