Deploy uninstall

I have a Deployment already setup and working.   If i wish to deploy an uninstall this time, so i wonder if i can just setup a new appliocation using uninstall command switch and using the same files of the Install,  i just don't want to screw it the existing working deployment.

In case that i can use the same files,  do i have to distribute it again?

In your deployment type did you configure the programs tab with a uninstall string. If so you can simply make a new deployment to a collection and select uninstall.

If you did not you could simply edit the current deployment type and add the uninstall string to it and deploy it after.

This would be the cleaner way of doing it.

If not you could make a new  application using the same sources but don't see any gain in doing this. This would add more issue in the long run more overhead more of everything.

Just change the deployment type to add the uninstall and you will be all set.

Hi,

Is this a package / program deployment you have?

If so yes you can create a new program to remove the application, if for any reason you change the source files (by updating a cmd or bat file then you will need to update the content on the DP)

If the command is just entered into the GUI though you shouldn't need to do anything else other then deploy the uninstall program to a test device.

If it's an MSI you can just remove it with msiexec /X GUID /qn and shouldn't need any source.

If it's an application then just update the uninstall command line in the gui and wait for each machine to update policy (default every 60 mins), then just create a new deployment this time choosing to uninstall. Test test test :)

I didn't setup that application ,was done in 2013.  I just add the Uninstall switch like you recommend, and i will setup a new deployment for it.  Thank you very much
