Deploy SCCM 2012 R2 Primary Site on existing CAS

Hello,

We are trying to install primary site of SCCM 2012 R2 set in a Central American country and that should be part of the hierarchy of the CAS installed in Europe.

Follow the instructions in the installation wizard and when reviewing the prerequisites runs, we received the following errors:

  • Connection to SQL Server on central administration site = FAILED
  • Parent/child database collation = FAILED
  • Site server computer account administrative rights = FAILED

We have reviewed the administrative account permissions, we reviewed the communication between firewall on CAS site and firewall on primary site and seems to be all right.

We appreciate that we can give some additional ideas to review and resolve these incidents and to complete the installation of the primary site that is associated with the CAS.

Best regards,

Manuel

Is the account running the setup and the computer account of the site local admin on the CAS and sysadmin in SQL?

Hi,

My guess is that there is a communication/firewall/nameresolution issue as "Connection to SQL Server on central administration site = FAILED" then the collation error is because it couldn't reach the server. So I would start with the basic stuff, can you ping the DB server? can you resolve the DNS name?

Chech the C:\ConfigMgrPreReq.log for more detailed information.

Jrgen

Thank you Torsten for advices.

We already checked the suggested configuration and discovered that computer account of the site local cannot be resolved on the domain where is installed the CAS and the SQL, so we are tryinng to fix it the configuration and later test the installation again.

I will let you know the results.

Best regards,

Manuel

Hi,

We review some configurations and we had to open firewall ports that were blocking communications, now we can communicate between servers, but one SQL error persists as is described on the image

We have made sure to give the required permissions in SQL Server and SCCM .

In the SQL Server (which belongs to the domain of Central America ) we have assigned the following configurations:

* CAS Computer (Europe domain) - Added as Local Administrator and Sysmanager on SQL (CentralAmerica Domain)

* SQL from CAS (Europe domain) - Added as Local Administrator and Sysmanager on SQL (CentralAmerica Domain)

* SCCMAdmin (Europe domain account) - Added as Local Administrator and Sysmanager on SQL (CentralAmerica Domain) -- This is the account we are using to install the Primary Site on CentralAmerica domain

* SCCMPrimarySite computer (CentralAmerica domain) - Added as Local Administrator and Sysmanager on SQL (CentralAmerica Domain)

On the ConfigMgrSetupWizard.log we are getting this messages:

On the ConfigMgrPrereq.log we got this messages:

I will appreciate advices about this issue.
