Deleting an MA
Hello all, I recently deleted a couple of temp/test MAs from the Sync engine, but they still show up in the portal drop down for "External System". Any way to remove them from their as well? New MAs I add show up fine... KeithKeith

Your MA will probably still be listed at: FIM Portal -> Administration -> All Resources -> ma-data You could delete it there, although that should happen automagically. Perhaps if you restart your FIM Service it will verify and update this info. Not sure though.http://setspn.blogspot.com

the synchronization of the MA-DATA and the MV-DATA from the SYnc Engine to the Portal is done by the Built-In Sync account, which is other words is the account that's specified on the FIM MA. I have never fully investigated this, but try either of the following: 1) edit some MA and adjust the description or so OR 2) restart the FIM SYNC serviceJorge de Almeida Pinto [MVP-DS / AD DS TechNet Forums Moderator] [Sr. Technical Consultant @ Oxford Computer Group] (http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/default.aspx) (http://www.oxfordcomputergroup.com/)

When deleting a MA from the Sync Service, it's also worth checking the request queue in the FIM Portal UI to ensure that the ma-data/mv-data delete requests were completed successfully by the Built-In Sync Account. I've seen issues when the connectivity between the FIM Sync Service and the FIM Service is lost when attempting to remove or update MAs. Could also try the new WMI method specific to the FIM MA: ### Get the MA $fimMa = Get-WmiObject -Class MIIS_ManagementAgent -Namespace root/MicrosoftIdentityIntegrationServer -Filter "Name='FIM_MA'" ### Discover all the pretty properties and methods $fimMa | Get-Member ### Call the new Resynch Method $fimMa.ResyncSyncConfigObjects() From the manual: The ResyncSyncConfigObjects initiates the internal synchronization of the synchronization configuration data. If the server is unable to communicate to any implementation-specific components, the server SHOULD return connection-failure<2>. If a failure occurs for which there is no other more-specific SOAP fault specified in this document, the server MUST return call-failure. Otherwise, the server MUST synchronize the synchronization configuration objects with the data source and return success. CraigMartin Edgile, Inc. http://identitytrench.com
