Deleted DataSync.provisoin_marker_dss table to fix data sync problem, and the cloud service was unable to connect to the database after deletion. I recreated the table and everything seems to be working. I turned off data sync. Are there any problems that this might cause in the feature since the table does not have any data no more? How do I get rid of the DataSyncdss..tracking tables after I turned off the Sync? thanks
Thank you for your question.
I am trying to involve someone familiar with this topic to further look at this issue.
May I know that which kind of "data sync problem" did you hit which made you delete the "DataSync.provision_marker_dss" table? And by "turn off data sync", do you mean delete the sync group?
If you are still using SQL Data Sync, manually delete and recreate "DataSync.provision_marker_dss" is not supported. If you are not using SQL Data Sync, then you can just remove this table.
I'll do further reply based on your current status.
The problem was that Data Sync would error (Cannot Insert NULL to timestamp column of provision_marker_dss). Yes I deleted sync group. and want to get rid of this tables that was created by the sync process (DataSync.tables)
I am not using SQL Data Sync any more. I deleted Sync Groups, but when I dropped the provisoin_marker table the reporting and web services were not able to connect to the database.
How do I turn tracking OFF on Azure? and get rid of DataSync dss tracking tables ?
The NULL error above could caused by some wrong data in the source/target DB, if you'd like to understand the root cause and further using data sync, please provide the log for that error (you can find it in the log tab of sync) and we can take a look at.
Drop provision_marker table should have nothing related with Azure DB connection. In other words, it would not break "reporting" nor "web service" connect to the database.
If you'd like to turn off sync forever and clean up those trackings, you can remove all the objects under schema "datasync".
