Delegate permission to create site collection
Hi, I'm a MOSS Farm Admin in my company (MOSS 2007 x64 SP2 Feb CUs) and I've been asked to delegate the permission to create Team Site Collections to the Level 1 Tech Support group. The only two means I'm aware of for creating site collections are: central admin or stsadm, but I'm concerned giving the required privileges to access the whole central admin or use stsadm to such a big group (more than 20 people). Do you know a way to delegate site collection creation permission only, no more no less ? Thanks a ton, Ludovic

Site collections can also be created by users without accessing Central Admin if Self Service Site Creation is enabled. For more details refer to this article: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/winsharepointadmin/HA011607961033.aspx

Hi Neville, you were absolutely right. Thanks to you, and this link regarding how to restrict self service site creators, I've been called "Miracle Maker". Have a great day, Ludovic
