Deinstall SCCM client

Hi,

I have a question re uninstall SCCM client 2012 SP1.

I type ccmsetup.exe /uninstall in a cmd window. There is no uninstallation progress window nor any information. I see that in the C:\Windows\ccmsetup all files and folder immediately disappear and only the log folder and the ccmsetup.exe remain.

I guess this is a good sign. When will the SCCM icon in the control panel disappear? Even after a restart it is still there. I'm missing a clear hint when the SCCM client has been uninstalled.

Thanks,

Edy

The easiest, and probably the best, method is to check the ccmsetup.log log file (like with the installation of the client).

I'm seeing this error in the ccmsetup.log a few times. It seems that the program tries to uninstall a few times and give up then.

ccmsetup 14.07.2014 12:59:44 448 (0x01C0)MSI: Warning 25702. Failed to uninstall PrepDrvr.Sys for Software Metering Agent

File C:\windows\ccmsetup\{59A0EA77-D28C-4286-83A6-04BB57B9CDD6}\client.msi installation failed. Error text: ExitCode: 1603
Action: CcmRegisterWmiMofFile.
ErrorMessages:
Setup was unable to compile the file UpdatesAgent.mof
The error code is 80041002

Thanks,

Edy

Those messages sound more like failures during the installation of a client.

In case the uninstall really started there should also be a client.msi_uninstall.log log file providing more detailed information. Check that log file for some more detailed information.

try this - if exist "c:\WINDOWS\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.exe" "c:\WINDOWS\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.exe" /uninstall

You could always download the SMS Toolkit 2003 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sms/bb676787.aspx) and use ccmclean to remove the client.

Details on how to do this are at Anoop's site

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback so far. There is a client.log file, but I cannot spot any hint. I see this error in the windows event viewer.

Source MSIinstaller - Product Configuration Manager client error 25140 setup was unable to compile file Udateagent.mof.

The error is present a few times. I guess every time I tried to uninstall the client. I also tried the ccmclean.exe from the SMS2003 Toolkit. The program runs fine without any error.

The current state is now that I can still see the configuration manager in system control, system. However in the general tab, there is no information, in the components tab there is no information too. This is the tab which shows the components installed. Basically the client has no configuration.

I don't really need to uninstall, if I could still make the ccm client work again without re-image the machine

Thanks,

Edy

Edy did the user doing the uninstall have full admin rights? Did you get this resolved?

Hi,

The user doing the uninstall had full admin right. Actually it is not resolved. I have no idea how I can uninstall the client. Well I could reimage the computer, but this is not the solution for a simple task.

As you stated above, ccmsetup /uninstall is the only supported method to uninstall the client. I do not believe that ccmclean is supported for Configuration Manager 2012 (and is not needed).

Whenever I've done it, it does remove the Configuration Manager icon in Control Panel immediately upon finishing. I have heard of it needing a refresh to clear it, but you state that you have rebooted.

There is no progress bar or status. The only thing really of concern is that the SMS Agent Host service (ccmexec.exe) has been removed. That is the only thing that the client uses/runs.
