Default parameter value not updating when deploying report (SSRS2008)
I've just made a number of changes to an existing report and deployed it (SharePoint integrated mode). One of the changes was to alter the default value for a parameter; a user entered integer. Everything works as expected in the development environment (BIDS). All the other changes to the report are evident when the deployed version is run, but the default value for this paramerter hadn't changed. I went though Manage Parameters and effected the change I wanted, but I can see this catching me and other users out again in the future. Can anyone clarify if this is a deliberate feature, a known bug or a PICNIC (problem in chair, not in computer)? Does the same happen in R2? If not then that's one more reason to nag colleagues for the update! Hi Rapier, To this scenario of yours, you could reset parameter's default value on sharepoint site as these steps: Open the library or folder that contains the report. Point to the report and click the down arrow. Click Manage Parameters, each parameter will be listed on the page. Click a parameter in the list to modify its settings. In Default Value, enter a value for the parameter. The value will not be validated, so be sure that you are providing a value that works for the report. Choose Use value expression specified in report definition if you want to use the default value that was defined when the report was created. If the report definition does not provide a default value, this option will be unavailable. Choose Override the report default value if you want to specify a replacement for the report definition default value. Optionally, for report parameters that accept null values, you can select the Null check box to prevent filtering based on that parameter. Choose Parameter does not have a default value if you want each user to specify a value before the report is processed. If you select this option, you should set display settings that prompt the user to specify a value. Note that if all parameter values have a default value, the report will automatically run with those values when the user opens the report. However, if the parameter area is displayed, users can override the default value and re-run the report. Click Apply. Thanks. That's what I did, but I'd like to know if this is the way it's supposed to work, or if there's another reason the default values don't update when the report is deployed. If this post, or another, answers your question, please click the 'Mark as answer' button so others with the same problem can find a solution more easily.
