Default.aspx in site template
Hi all,
I have a doubt regarding the site templates and default.aspx page in MOSS 2007.My client has a custom site template named x,y,z.But whe we create a site using another templates such as team ,Blank, etc it is also taking the branding from the custom templates
and default sharepoint branding is lost. Can anybody help me out in this regard?
Thanks

Hi,
Branding basically camos from master page.
so if you have select some custom master page as a default new site will take branding from that master page.
and if you want default branding then make defaut.master (or theme's master) as a default master pageRegards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant | http://sharepointpratik.blogspot.com/

Hi Pratik,
Yes I know that but my client has a specific masterpage and when he creates a site with hi stemplate he has a feature to lack the master page.So it is automatically gets activated .I have to deactivate it and change the Master Page.Is there any other way
to achieve this with out changing the site features.I think I need to edit the site template. If any other approach is right please suggest me.
Thanks,

I don't think there is any automatic way to change it. Yes you can manually change site template.
Or
you can disable the feature with which site creation automatic takes custom master page.Regards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant | http://sharepointpratik.blogspot.com/

Hi Pratik,
Thanks for the reply,But I am not able to understand how the branding is getting reflected in all the default templates too...? If custom Template is made ,it should be localised to that only. How come it is affecting the other templates Branding...?Do u
have an idea...?

Hi,
Please check following location
"%Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\Global"
You will get default.master page over there and check is it OOTB master page or is it custom master page.
If its a custom master page then you have to make OOTB default.master page as a default master page so that when a new site is created it will take OOTB master page and not the custom.
In addition you can refer
