Date format differences in SSMS and SSRS 2008 R2
I can run a stored proc from SSMS and the dates are displayed in international format '2011-07-27'. However all the dates are showing up in my report are US format. rdl showing System.Date is used. Any ideas why SSRS is changing the date format coming from the database?

It takes the server format as far as I believe. Check a similar thread http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/c9b2ea5c-55bd-42cb-920f-9a07572a0f02.Happy to help! Thanks. Regards and good Wishes, Deepak. In a revamp of my Blog!

The SQL Management studio is returning the data as 2011-07-01, I will call that server language setting "Language A"? How can the report server return the date in "Language B" (07/01/2011) US format? Isnt there just one server setting? Or does SSRS have its own language setting apart from the SQL database? If so, how to set the SSRS Language to "Language A"? Also note when I do a right-click properties in BIDS on a date field is shows Current Regional Settings (English United States). Dont know where that's coming from. MichiganMike

Hi MichiganMike, Reports use language settings for labels and formats. By default, formats for date, currency, and numbers are determined by the report server language at run time just as Deepak_MSBI said. To override the formatting provided through the report server language, you can set the Language property within the report when you design it. This can be set at the report level or the TextRun level. If you want to vary the formatting based on the language or local settings of the browser or client application, you can set the Language property to an expression that includes the User!Language variable. For more information about the topic, please refer to the following article, Solution Design Considerations for Multi-Lingual or Global Deployments (Reporting Services): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156493.aspx. If you have any question, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Eileen
