Hi all, I am getting one typical error when I try to create a dataset based on SQL query in SSRS. I am using SSRS 2008 R2 and when I try to execute the query for creating dataset its giving timeout expired error. The same problem is persisting even after increasing the connection timeout time to 10 minutes. The error is coming when the number of rows retrieved is more than 100000 and also for SELECT * FROM ...remaining part of the query I am able to retrieve the data in SSMS for the same query within a fraction of seconds. Hi, Can You Write a Stored Procedure to fetch this Query ? If so can you check ?? .. 1.Write a TOP Clause n and fetch the Columns Required fields in your Report. 2.Then once your fields are appear in reports go ahead and remove TOP clause and re run the report. Hi Rakesh Did the same procedure. But did not work out:(. Why is it giving the error when number of rows exceeds some limit? Do we need to change any settings? I will check whether my DS is getting connected to the DB by using SQL Profiler. And can you help me in using 'shared dataset' in SSRS. When I did check that option in SSRS, it returned me nothing to enter the query or select the dataset. How can I use that feature in SSRS? Thank you

Hi, If you are using SSRS 2008 then.. In the Solution Explorer there is an Shared Datasets Folder. Right Click and create a New Dataset....this becomes a Shared Dataset and you can use this Dataset in all your Reports which are present in your Solution.
