Data From MS Access - Not able to connect datasource
I have scenario like this: I have a sharepoint list and from which I am pulling data to MS Access as I don't have an option to pull to MS SQL server. After pulling data to MS Access - I tried to create a SSRS report using MS Access db. As MS Access db has Admin ID by default, I am running into issues. When I create a SSRS report in BIDS, I am able to preview the report. But when I deploy it to the report server, deployment is successful. But, when I try to open the report, It is throwing error, 'cannot connect to datasource'. Any ideas. please let me know how to connect to the access db in reporting services. Admin ID has blank password. or else, I need to get data to sql server which I don't know how to link data to sql server from either sharepoint list or from MS Access. Thanks

Hi , Seveal Questions in 1 post but i guess you just want a solution to get data out of sharepoint list. This is dependant on what version of SSRS and what version of sharepoint SSRS 2008 Can use XML data source to connect to a sharepoint list you could try http://www.codeproject.com/KB/reporting-services/ReportFromSharePoint.aspx or http://vspug.com/dwise/2007/11/28/connecting-sql-reporting-services-to-a-sharepoint-list-redux/ But if you have SSRS 2008 R2 then it has "sharepoint list" amongst its prebuilt data souces try http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff686706.aspx or http://nikspatel.wordpress.com/2010/06/11/step-by-step-consuming-sharepoint-2010-lists-data-in-the-ssrs-2008-r2-reports/ Access connectivity hopfully you don't need it. But this fault is typically down to the SSRS service account not beingable to find the file. Hope this helps , Robert Edgson

I tried to use SQL 2008 R2 and it worked fine for me. However, we don't have SQL 2008 version on corporate level. So, I removed and installed SQL 2005 to publish it on one of the corporate servers. Tried to pull sharepoint list using XML data connection in SQL 2005, it is throwing errors. Tried to pull data from MS Access in SQL Reporting Services 2005, data connection error. Any ideas. Please help! Thanks

Hi nkpriya, From your description, you need to use SharePoint list and MS Access as the shared data source in Reporting Services 2005. Could you please post me error message with more details when you pull data from SharePoint list and MS Access database? By the way, there are some posts and article about use a SharePoint list as a data source and connect to MS Access database, please see: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/a8e59ad6-614f-4078-96a5-63773a24f94c/ http://vspug.com/dwise/2007/11/28/connecting-sql-reporting-services-to-a-sharepoint-list-redux/ http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqlreportingservices/thread/76ed6e32-efcf-4d63-b959-669286e8ad2c Thanks, Bin Long
