DataFormWebPart ListURL

Hi,

I am using the DataFormWebPart (inserted through SharePoint Designer) in one of my .aspx pages. This Web Part is pointing to a custom Document Library. My problem is that I cannot find out from where (in the HTML markup)the list(url or guid) is set for the DataFormWebPart in order to retrieve data. What I am trying to do is to give the url of the list so that when I deploy this the DataFormWebPart to production it will continue to work. I do not want to hard code the list URL. Does anyone know any details about this?

Thaks
Arjuna.

Hi,

I figured this out, now I am having another problem. Does the DataFormWebPart allow sorting? I am not looking for complex stuff just the basics. If so then how do I enable this. I do not see an option, only option I see is that in the Smart Tag I see "Sort and Group" but the sorting allowed here is a default sorting when the web part initially loads. I want the user to be able to click on a title header and sort the data.

Thanks
Arjuna.

Hi,

If you want to sort data view on column headers, please try these steps

1. Right-click the Data View and then click Show Common Control Tasks on the shortcut menu.

2. In the Common Data View Tasks list, click Data view properties.

3. In the General tab, select Enable sorting and filtering on column headers(basic table layout only)

For more information about sorting data view on column headers, please refer to: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointdesigner/HA102370051033.aspx#2
