Dashboard views not showing any template
Hello, I would like to setup Dashboard in SCOM 2012. Latest rollup has been installed. I cant get the templates to show, anything I missed?? I cant get my network vicinity dashboard to shown anything as well. Is it maybe because Im monitoring devices that SCOM doesnt have any MIBs for?? Please help? Regards, Dominique.

Hi Alex, I have tried running the query. Does it usually take long?? Because I'm not getting anything back from it. That is both queries. Its just runs in the background. Any alternatives?? Regards, Dominique.

Hi, I managed to run the query. But the second query throws this: Invalid object name 'MT_ManagementGroup'.

Is this a clean install of SCOM 2012 or did you upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2? The kb article only applies to upgrades. Cheers GrahamRegards Graham New System Center 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Hi Graham, Yeah I noticed. Its indeed a clean install. I wiped my previous OpsMgr 2007 deployment and started from scratch. The reason I'm trying the KB is because I have nothing else currently I could possibly do. In the previous post you will see I got an error on the second query: " Invalid object name 'MT_ManagementGroup'." What is the impact???? Regards,

Hi Dominique I think that is because it is a table from SCOM 2007 R2 that would still exist after an upgrade. I have a clean install of SCOM 2012 here and getthe same error as you. With regard to "Is it maybe because Im monitoring devices that SCOM doesnt have any MIBs for??" - SCOM doesn't use MIBs so that isn't the issue for network mointoring. Discovery is based upon specific OIDs that are part of the discovery process (a MIB importer \ browser is a much requested feature). What gets discovered does depend on what RFC implements but most switches and routers should at least be picked up as generic devices: http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2011/09/20/what-gets-monitored-with-system-center-operations-manager-2012-network-monitoring.aspx http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26831 I think the template issue is seperate from this. Do you have issues with templates on all consoles? Or is this the issue - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh561709.aspx Changing a 1-column dashboard view from grid layout to flow layout results in an empty dashboard view When you create a 1-column dashboard view by using the following steps, the dashboard view will display as a blank screen, with no option to add a widget. 1. In the Monitoring workspace, right-click in the navigation tree, point to New, and then click Dashboard View. 2. On the Template page, click Grid Layout, and then click Next. 3. On the General Properties page, enter a name for the dashboard view. 4. Click Previous. 5. On the Template page, click Flow Layout and then click Next. 6. On the General Properties page, click Next. 7. On the Select Layout page, leave the Column Count value as 1 and click Next. 8. On the Summary page, click Create. 9. On the Completion page, click Close Workaround: To correct the empty dashboard view, perform the following steps. 1. In the dashboard view, click the Configure button in the top right corner. 2. Click Next to open the Select Layout page. 3. In the Column Count field, overwrite the existing value 1 with 1. 4.Click Finish. There are a couple of other potential issues listed as well there. When I try to create any dashboard, I don't even see any layout. See image uploaded in first post. I do not see what you mean by: "In the dashboard view, click the Configure button in the top right corner. " I'd guess I'd get to this point only after at least creating a dashboard even though its empty. One good news. I have added about 5 networks devices and the "Nodes with slowest response" view actually shows something. :-) But yes, dashboard layouts is blank....

Hi, A few entries here and there. The error I could pick up are such as heartbeat. Nothing major. Is there something specific I should look for??? Just want to add something to the trail of events.... My console crashes every time I try to create a dashboard... Regards, Dominique.

So after a support call with MS, It seems the problem is with the New .NET framework 4.5 (beta, hehe). I should have been more thorough on that one. I'm indeed running Win 8 CP, and it had the latest .NET framework by default. Also on Win 2008 R2 SP1, would suffer the same issue if you loaded the upgrade (4.5). After testing on Win7 .NET framework 4, also Win 2008 R2 SP1 with a fresh .NET framework 4 install, all was showing and happening lightning fast. I guess now work will be done to fix the bug, lets hope it comes soon. Thank you all for your help and time. Regards, Dominique.
