DashBoard Wont Launch says configuration is not complete, 2 weeks after initial config which worked and domain all setup.

Hi

We setup a new 2012 r2 essentials server the first week of January. All configuration completed successfully, the domain was live user accounts created and integrated to office 365, then at the end of Jan, the dashboard stop launching, It says the "you cannot open dashboard until windows server essentials configuration is complete" .    I have read the forums about running setupmon.exe from the server\bin directory however this file does not exist on the server.

I obviously don't want to remove the role and re add it as everything is configured and working, it is just annoying that we can not add a new user via dashboard etc.

Any ideas welcome.

Under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Server\

What do you have under the 'Setup' key?

In Server Manager, is it saying there is additional configuration required?

Hi Robert

I see from Powershell you could be correct, and also we launching dashboard from a pc it fails to connect.

and the connector fails to pick up an essentials server on the network.

Get-WssConfigurationStatus ShowProgress

The Following would suggest somebody tried to remove it?

Start-WssConfigurationService
Start-WssConfigurationService : You cannot configure Windows Server Essentials.
Complete the clean up and role removal before you try to configure it again.

Is it possible to reinstall without damaging the old setup.

I ran the cleanup - then removed the role.

rebooted.

Added the role, and started the config. I hit an error because the certificate server is still installed. I stopped here.

So, i am going to say no you cannot repair this without messing up the integration between Essentials and Office 365.

That is not to say you cannot repair it, but you will have to redo the 365 integration.

Hi Robert

I uninstalled the Essentials role.  I backed up the CA and removed the role. Then I Reinstalled essentials role and re imported the CA from Backup. I then re connected to office 365 and linked the users back to the pre-existing accounts.. looks ok to me so far.

Thanks for your help.

Have a similar situation in that one of the 2012R2 Essentials box we managed the Dashboard has disappeared, when I add in again the essentials role/feature I get a warning saying an error prevented the dashboard from opening and that the certificate exists. Is the answer here by any chance.
