I have a server running OpenSolaris at the moment with a video archive of about 25 TB.

I am considering moving that to a Windows 2012 server and using DPM 2012 for backups, as the system is an archive most of the data is never changed and today I make full backups every 6 months and incrementals every week.

One supplier told me that I need three times the amount of protected files as storage space on the DPM server. Is that true?

Would it be possible to setup a backup scheme on DPM that works this way?
