DPM 2012 agent fails on Windows 2012

Hi All

I have server with Hyper-V role enabled (joined to the domain). I have tested DPM2012 by install the agent on one of the VMs which work perfectly without any issues. Later we decided to install the agent on the host so:

1- Removed the VM from the protection group.

2- uninstalled the agent from the VM successfully.rebooted and shutdown the VM.

3- Now When I triy to installed the agent on the host I received the following error in the event log of the host:

On the Hyper-V host check the DPMRADCOMTrustedMchines and DPMRADPTrustedMachines and make sure the DPM Server exists in those two groups.

If those groups don't exist from the \Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\bin folder on the hyper-v host run from an administrative command prompt the setdpmserver -dpmsevername dpmserver and see if that solves the issue.

Also check the DPMRA service DCOM permissions http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817064/en-au (Source document for troubleshooting here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;978900)

Hi Danny

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried what they recommended (Link) for that specific error number but still without any luck.

I will dis-join the host from the domain and try to install the client manually and see how it will go.

Any other suggestion?

Kind Regards

Hi Danny

I think it was a DNS issue after I fixed it. dis-joined it and then re-joined which fixed the issue.

Kind Regards
