DPM 2012 R2 with SQL 2014

I installed SQL 2014 and it all went smoothly and all services are up and running.

However, when I install 2012 DPM I cant get past the DB prerequisite. It cant connect to the reporting server. Everything looks good. I get error 33431.

This is a clean install not an upgrade. Everything I have read has to do with and upgrade and an older version of reporting services remaining.

Thank you for you help,

TJcooper

Its not an upgrade, there is only one namespace which is "V12".

I think its as simple as installing a version of DPM that doesn't support 2014. I should look at a newer version of DPM or stick with SQL 2012

Hi,

As you said it seems that it just not support SQL 2014. See:

SQL Server 2014 support

Issue: You can protect SQL Server 2014 and SQL Server 2012 with SP2 with DPM 2012 R2 with Update rollup 4.

Hi,

SQL 2014 is only supported as a database server for DPM 2012 R2 installations with Update Rollup 6 applied: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/dn281933.aspx

Kind Regards
Markus

SQL 2014 can be used if you have rollup 6 but only has an upgrade from SQL 2012.

Once they put out a new build of DPM with the rollups included 2014 SQL will be  probably be supported.

very annoying that this isn't made more clear.  not fun to discover this after having already installed what is supposedly a supported database for "installation"
