DPM 2012 R2 server with VERY high CPU usage on WMIPRVSE process
I am trying to diagnose a problem with a DPM server that is consistently running wmiprvse process at between 78% and 93%. It is very difficult to troubleshoot since the performance of the server is now so poor that it is hard to do the diags, hence the query
whilst I wait! Does DPM use the wmiprvse.exe process extensively?
Thanks
Mark

Hi,
Don't think it's DPM - you can stop all the DPM services and see what happens. Viruses can sometimes cause that - please update your virus signatures and perform a scan.

Problem resolved by Microsoft (thanks team). We think it was caused by orphaned snapshot volumes from DPM being left in the registry and cleaning these up with a utility they provided "devnodecleanup.x64.exe" seems to have resolved matters, though
it could also have been helped by removing and then reinstalling the SCOM agent in part.

Is this utility available for download from them or did they have to send it to you directly? I am having the same issue but cannot find the utility.
