Hi,

I have a 3 tier sharepoint farm with 1DB, 1APP, and a WFE. Recently my APP server crashed and my sharepoint services went down. Luckily I took a backup of my APP server(configuration-only) using CA(central Admin).

So then i decided to setup a new machine for my APP server and I installed the necessary prerequisites . I ran the configuration wizard and opted to host CA on the new APP server-APP2. But when the CA page got loaded it had the name of the old APP server on it and the page didnt load. So I had to use IIS to browse the CA page but still some of the options werent there. And I could see the old APP server was still there in the farm, So I decided to remove it from there (i.e using CA page) but it came out with an error saying spadminv4 couldnt be contacted. Except for the "Distributed cache" service rest of the other services got removed from the old server(APP1) in the process.

I then restored the configuration backup that I had to the new APP server(APP2) using powershell

Restore-SPFarm Directory <Backup Folder> -RestoreMethod Overwrite -Force -ConfigurationOnly

Still there was no change and currently none of the APPLICATION services(search service, etc). are running on my new APP server(APP2).

What should be done to in order to restore my farm back to its running condition

PS: PLEASE just dont simply post links here, rather please explain what should be done exactly. And I dont have AD,DNS,DHCP etc kind of services running here.
