thanks Niall for usual and fast response... actually i went throuth this before and am getting the same error :

Windows Boot Manager  (Server IP: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX) "SCCM serverns IP adress"

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert you Windows installation disc and restart your computer..

2. Choose your language settings, and then click next.

3. Click repair you computer

 File: \Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc000000f

and i tried to add paths in dhcp option like remoteinstall\SMSBoot\x86\pxeboot.com and remoteinstall\Boot\x86\pxeboot.com

but i get the same error...

then i found that WAIK generates another file in path ISO\boot\etfsboot.com so i copied it to directory above and added it in option's value but got another error like "can't boot from CD" when tring network boot...

i got through a lot of pages but in vain :(...

may anybody help find what file required for Win 7 deployment and appropriate path in dhcp option ?????

appreciate your help

I am usually using this DHCP configuration:

DHCP options

And you have to make sure that both (x86 and x64) boot images are distributed to the PXE service point.

Thanks trosten...the above error message disappeared.

but i got the following:

downloaded WDSNBP

Arch: x64

WDSNBP started using DHCP referral.

Contacting Server: <SCCM IP>  (Gateway: <IP of gateway>)

No response from Windows Deployment Services server...

launching pxeboot

press f12 for network boot

PXE-M0F exiting...

my question is why is it read as 64 arch?? and i didn't make any changes in the WDS server...shall i add something??

appreciate your help

Hi,

make sure that the x86 and x64 boot images are copied up to the SMSPXEIMAGES$. In plus, take a look at this link to see other possible causes for this issue http://blogs.technet.com/b/smsandmom/archive/2008/09/17/configmgr-2007-troubleshooting-pxe-service-point-issues-and-wds-service-not-starting.aspx

they are in SMSSIG$\SMSPXEIMAGES$ folder...

i only use x86 images as a test on x68 clients...is there a problem not including x64 on this?

are you sure that the computer has not an x64 chip architecture ??? Try to make available the x64 boot image on the PXE distribution point, clear thet last PXE Advertisement and try again. Also have you seen the link montioned above

Arch: x64
That's why you need the both the x86 and x64 boot image on the PXE SP. It doesn't matter if you want to deploy an x86 OS on it.

Although it worked to refresh vista client to 7 but "i don't know why" if i restarted a client machine and pressed f12 to boot from network i get this:

Windows Boot Manager  (Server IP: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX) "SCCM serverns IP adress"

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

i tried to to reinstall WDS and PXE as in this link http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/configmgrosd/thread/8677d9f3-ea24-4586-94b3-80eda4bb8a18

but in vain...
