DHCP Lease Time keeps resetting to zero

The DHCP lease time on our Windows Server 2008 R2 DHCP server keeps resetting on its own to 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes. I can change it to 21 days, or anything else, but some unknown amount of time later, it will be back to all zeros. Other than that, it works fine. We used to use a Windows Server 2003 server for DHCP and it did the same thing.

Why is it doing this? How do we make it stop?

Hi

By the default When a scope is created, the lease duration is set to eight days, also you can change this lease time(you already mentioned.)

Did you check the log's on event viewer for errros..

Also you can check with "DHCP Server Events Tool"

Hi DBowman410,

According to your description, the DHCP server keeps resetting its lease time to 0 days 0 hours 0 minutes automatically.

We may check event log of DHCP for further troubleshooting. Run mmc, add event viewer snap-in; expand Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > DHCP Server > Microsoft-Windows-DHCP Server Events/Operational. Configuration changes of  servers will be recorded here, we may find out records about lease duration, check the user that modify the configuration.

Best regards,

Anne he
