DHCPUtil.exe -emulateClient Received Pack but not displaying it

Hi,

Version : 4.0.7577.0

I'm using DHCPUtil.exe -emulateClient on a test machine on the client VLAN to test DHCP options for a Lync Phone.

The command runs and the Send packet completes and a packet is Recevied but is not displayed:

The app sits like this indefinately until Ctrl+c. I've run a WireShark trace and I am receiving an DHCP ACK response from the DHCP server. Has anyone seen this behaviour from DHCPUtil before?

regards

Hi

Are you able to run this from the same subnet as your DHCP server and return an expected test?

You can also run the following command from the Lync server Test-CsPhoneBootstrap -PhoneOrExt XXXX -Pin XXXX to confirm DHCP is set up correctly.

If you are not getting the right response from your client VLAN, then check any internal firewall rules, routes and DHCP helpers on any switches.

thanks

Hi Mark,

The DHCP server is on a server VLAN which doesn't have the Lync Phone DHCP options.

Can't run Test-CsPhoneBootstrap as the Lync servers are on the server VLAN, hence no Lync Phone DHCP options and the clients are heavily restricted and won't even let powershell run :/

I have discounted firewall, router or DHCP helper problems as the WireShark trace is showing the DHCP ACK packet arriving at my client machine with the correct information. Even the DHCPUtil app seems to receive something (it shows "Received Packet" along with a size and IP address), it just isn't being displayed.

Going to try a newer version of DHCPUtil (5.0.8308.0)

OK no problem, It might be worth making sure that visual C++ redistributable libraries are installed on the workstation too, as the script depends on a couple of dll files from it.

thanks

Hi,

From your description above, you use Lync Server 2010, the version 5.0.8308.0 is for Lync Server 2013 so it may not work for Lync Server 2010 environment.

Please make sure update Lync Server 2010 to the latest version and then test again.
