DFS, Exchange, Home Folder...
Which provisioning product provides the most functionality in Microsoft-centric environments? They all appear to be able to do the usual things, create accounts in AD DS & mailboxes in Exchange, etc. What about features like DFS link provisioning & permissioning, home folder provisioning & permissioning, mailbox permissioning, etc. FIM doesn't appear to be able to satisfy these requirements. flame mode on: actually FIM can do these things with proper MAs. Besides mailbox permissioning Omada has MAs for home folders and many others. Do you expect Tivoli to do all that stuff OOB? :)

I haven't had a chance to use it myself but I think this looks interesting: http://www.thedotnetfactory.com/index.phphttp://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

Flame away Evgeniy! Great feedback, but can you ellaborate on 'proper MAs' please? Are you suggesting that I can buy an MA from Omada that can do the mailbox & home folder permissioning? Cheers, MMS_guruIdentity & Metadirectory, Hewlett-Packard UK

I have no idea whether Omada will sell their MAs separately from the full suit, but they had these MAs since the MIIS times. talk to them - www.omada.dk or http://www.omada.net/ If I would ever need home folder MA for DFS I would better buy one. But I don't see any difficulties to write your own XMA - one for mailbox permissioning, one for DFS. ps. lets say I have a script for DFS links/folders creation that sets permissions, creates AD groups, enables quote and so on... it would take a day or two to convert it to XMA agent for MIIS, and couple more days for MIIS MV objects, sync rules and attributes flow. but if I would do this - AD administrators will loose their job (to run the script :) )

I saw Omada's attestation manager and reporting center in action (presentation by Mark Kozak) and it looks like they know how to do things. was really impressed. even more impressed than with their RBAC module/portal for MIIS.
