DCOM error 10016 with SharePoint 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2
Situation:a new installation of SharePoint 2007 SP2 on a Windows server 2008 R2, installation succeeded without any problem. While changing the local activation permission for IIS WAMREG the edit options where disabled. In order to activate these options, we need to modify the register permisision settings for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1}while giving the administrator group full control we receive an access denied messagebox.more information regarding the issue:http://www.wictorwilen.se/Post/Fix-the-SharePoint-DCOM-10016-error-on-Windows-Server-2008-R2.aspx MCT,MCTS - http://www.tomvangaever.be

Hi, In which step you see the Access Denied error? I once configured it in Windows Server 2008 R2 without any issues. -lambertSincerely, Lambert Qin Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

We wanted to change the local activation settings in the DCOM configuration settings for IIS WAMREG (cmd > DCOMCNFG).while openen the properties panel for IIS WAMREG, we noticed that the edit buttons are disabled, after some research we discovered that this is due the fact that we didn't have admin permissions on a certain register key. While trying to change the permission on this registry item, we receive an access denied error...MCT,MCTS - http://www.tomvangaever.be

Hi, It looks like you do not take ownership of the registry key before changing the permissions. Please select the Owner tab. Now change the owner of the key to the administrators group for example, then set full control to the administrators group. Make sure not to change the permissions for the TrustedInstaller. See the article Take ownership of a registry key for more information. -lambertSincerely, Lambert Qin Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
