DB error moving from sql 2005 to 2008
Im trying to move our DB from SQL 2005 to 2008. I followed the instructions per http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2010/01/28/configmgr-2007-how-to-move-the-site-database.aspx. When I open the console, it fails to connect to the database. smsprov.log shows SQL Connection attempt timed out [28000][18456][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. -- [28000][18456][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. I have double checked that the sccm server is an admin on both servers in the 2008 cluster just as it is on both servers in the 2005 cluster. I have also double checked that the sccm server sql account has the same permissions on the 2008 instance as it does on the 2005 instance and it is enabled. We do have SPNs for the 2008 cluster even though we didnt have them for the 2005 cluster. If I switch back to the 2005 db, it works. I did notice that the sql port was not listed in ConfigMgrSetup.log when I ran setup although it would not allow me to add the port on the SQL server field. We didnt use the standard sql port on 2005 either so Im not sure how we ever managed to set it up. Anyone have any ideas?

After a little more searching I realized we did have SPNs on the 2005 server service account and while we did have SPNs on the 2008 server, they are not on the sql service account. I have the SPN set now but I guess the SQL server will need rebooted tonight for the changes to take affect.
