Customizing the App Controller site layout & menus exposed to self service users

I'm very happy with App Controller 2012 and SCVMM 2012.  I've gotten both setup, the VM templates work fine, joining the domain and virtual server configurations all take hold, network teaming and VLANs all work, and deploying VMs as a self-service user has been a succsess.  It is very satisfying getting this far.

Before I open this up to the users & coworkers, I would really like to trim down what menu options and fields in the overview are presented to self-service users.  To customize the layout of the app controller site.

The reason for this is that from my experiences, end users love buttons and links. They will click on anything you put in front of them and will hound for extra functionality or options if they know they exist.

What I have in mind for the end result is to strip out the visual components of any service / item that they arn't going to be allowed to use.  I would very much like to not include "Public Clouds" or "Hosted Clouds", and strip out "Community" and "How to" because they just lead to more questions.  In the menu on the left I would like to exclude 'services' as there are none.  I realize App Controller has a focus on cloud and services, but for my purposes it only ever needs to push out single domain joined VMs.  Similarly I would like to remove "Windows Azure" from the library as again that is not something being offered to the self-service users.

Is this possible?

Thank you

I've wanted to do the same thing and haven't been able to figure it out. I don't think it's possible.

App Controller needs more fine grained security.

We are looking at using the Cloud Service Pack (Service Manager add-on) to create custom forms but so far that's proven more difficult than it should be.

Hi Schinkel and RichStep,

It isn't possible to do this type of customization for App Controller.

Your feedback is consistent with the feedback we're hearing on the types of customization that people want to do.

Kind Regards,

Richard
