Custom MOF Files
Hello, After reading the article from Brian S. Tucker http://blogcastrepository.com/blogs/brian_tucker/archive/2008/02/13/how-to-enable-asset-intelligence-client-access-licensing-in-sccm-2007.aspx quote:Save the .mof file and it will replicate to the other servers in the hierarchy after some time. I am confused where I should update/customize the MOF files? Is it on the parent and the customization will be applied to all the hierarchy servers? I son the child using the customization ONLY? sms_def.mof and configuration.mof are NOT automatically replicated within a hierarchy. ConfigMgr >SP1 provides the ability to enable AI using the admin console: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb694072.aspx

Hi Torsten,Asset Intelligence is enabled on one primary-parent server. The two primary-child have customized MOF files. If follow Brian Article I will change the MOF files on the Primary-Parent and then Save the .mof file and it will replicate to the other servers in the hierarchy after some time....I am confused what replication is it? if the MOF files are not replicated how the changes will be propagated? Will these MOF Files compiled as well automatically by using the console? Thanks,Dom System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 Support

- there is no replication mechanism for those mof files; you have to do it manually- having different mof files within a hierarchy is a bad idea. I suggest using the same on all sites- the console itself does never compile mofs. It's dataldr after a change to a mof in the \hinv-inbox is detected
