Hi all, I'm pretty new to creating my own custom attributes to try and offer customers more advanced attribute flows without metaverse extensions. Basically im trying to create a custom expression in a inbound synchronization rule from a HR database to form an accountName based on: 1st letter of first name 4 letters from beginning of last name random 3 numbers I'm trying to concatenate custom expressions which im not even sure if you can do but the first stumbling block is in trying to grab the first letter of the first name when trying: LowerCase(Left(FirstName,1)) I get FirstName is not a valid attribute, I'm pretty stumped and would appreciate any help or guidance people can offer me :) Thanks,

Is there an attribute in your HR database that's enabled on the MA's Select Attributes page called "FirstName"? I don't recall if the sync rules screen is case sensitive, also.My Book - Active Directory, 4th Edition My Blog - www.briandesmond.com

Doh! Turned out to be very simple, sometimes you just keep the blinkers on going in the wrong direction! Thanks Brian you pointed me to check something I thought I had checked a million times, there needed to be a gap between FirstName, so First Name!
