Custom Attributes in ADLDS to create Criteria-based groups.
Hi, I am very new to FIM. I am trying to use FIM to populate dynamic groups in ADLDS. The membership of these groups are based on the values of custom attributes in ADLDS. The way I am thinking going about doing this, and this is what I need validation on, is the following: 1) Create the custom attibrutes and groups, attaching it to the Person Object class in the FIM metaverse. Then import them using an ADLDS import MA. 2) Create the custom attibutes and groups in the FIM portal, and create a FIM MA which import/exports them. 3) Create MPR in the FIM Portal, (Critera based group) which inserts users as per the criteria based on the custom attibutes. The authoritative source for the user base is in AD, and is loaded using another MA. Can someone let me know if I am on the right track? At the moment, I having trouble joining the ADLDS users, with the custom attributes to the user base, which I successfully imported from AD. thanks.

Hi There, You're close. You will need to import the users with the attributes from ADLDS that are being used to build the criteria based group. So steps 1 and 2 are correct. Step 3, isn't quite correct because to create the criteria based group you would need to create the criteria based group As this is a different object from the user itself, you would need to map the group objects in ADLDS to the FIM Sync Engine and the FIM Sync Engine to FIM. You'll need to have an MPR to map the synchronization rule (if you're using declarative rules) to create the new group in ADLDS. Make sure you have the appropriate flow rules from FIM to the Sync Engine and the declarative rules that you defined export the proper attributes (and set the DN) from Synch Engine to ADLDS. So, you were on the right track. You just have to put the rules and such in place to flow the groups that you've defined in FIM back to the ADLDS instance. Thanks B
