Cumulative updates for Service Pack 3 of SQL Server 2008 R2

Hi Experts,

In of our production server, EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION dump gets generated continuously, and note we get this only when an INSERT statement is being executed.

What we have done is below:

Earlier the server was running on SP2, so we applied SP3 and restarted for this take effect, which is latest to 2008 R2.

But then again we are getting this same type, I was /am googling for any cumulative updates for "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" for this kind of dump and I fail to get any CU's that is fix for this "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION", I wonder Micro Soft did not release any CU's for EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION for SP3.

Can anybody let me know if there any CU's for SQL Server 2008 R2, SP3 primarily for "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" dump issue.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

This fix is related to the error you are receiving but was intended for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3.

Error 832 is one of the symptoms. You may encounter various other symptoms such as access violations, asserts that depends on the extent of the issue.

The above fix is also part of the following hotfix for SQL Server 2008 R2, so please apply the following hotfix instead.

Hope this helps.

Venkatesh,

I would suggest you to open case with Microsoft if this is really a bug you might get refund. In that case you would get both Hotfix to fix this issue and refund as well.
