We have two forest abc.com and 123.com. Two way trust relationship between them. Both have their own exchange servers. Now we are planning to migrate 123.com as a child domain in abc.com along with mailboxes. This domain has file servers and print servers also. What would be the best approach ? Steps if possible.

Also we need minimum impact on users side,hence looking for alternate solution other than ADMT. Any suggestion ? will dell migration tool will do ?

check out former Quest migration tool, now Dell AD and Exchange migration.

You can also use ADMT, it's free from Microsoft. Data can be copied with robocopy between servers. You will always have some kind of downtime for users but maybe this can be done at close of business or at weekend.

Doesn't matter which option you choose, BEFORE starting built a LAB and test every step and each server role and application!!!

Thanks for the reply. I have idea about the tools posted. I need to know path for migration like, shall I make child domain first as 123.com under abc forest ? if yes.. then there will be two domains with same name in environment. shall i break trust relationship at first ??

This steps i need to understand. Based on that i can decide which tool to use.

youcan NOT have 2 domains using the same names. Sothere is a need for different names. Maybe you have migrate twice, first to a temporary name and then to the required one.

That true. So then how to migrate ?? if i migrate to different name, all computers, AD resources needs to be migrated to new name and then again back to child domain name. We have around 1000 users and computers.

What could be the best solution ?
