Creating SharePoint Output Caching for a home page
Hi All, I have a custom web part that has caching implemented in it. I see a problem in my production enviornment that the page disappears after some time and gets back if the page is refreshed. I was thinking of using the OOB site output caching functionality to over come this by caching the whole page instead of the web part. I have not implemented that before and the questions I have for it are the following: 1. I have security trimmed homepage, is sharepoint output caching going to take care of that? 2. I would want to enable output caching ONLY on the home page instead of the entire site/site collection. 3. Can I provide a caching time through SharePoint UI? Are there any blogs that would mention the steps of caching a page layout only on which I can provide a numeric value of time? MSDN has provided some steps but they dont show how to specify a caching time on a specific homepage, instead they show how to leave out a specific site in a site collection where we may not want caching. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Here are the caching options available to in MOSS: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc298466(office.12).aspx From the notes, it does not indicate you can specify only the home page. It is a site collection level setting. As for the security trimming, you can set that up via the cache profile settings.Regards, Savoeurn Va Microsoft Online Community Support
