Create new PWA Security Group and sync it with SharePoint group

Hi,

I have created a new PWA Security Group (Project Board Members) but it is not showing up on the site People and Groups as the Project Board Members (Project Web App Synchronized). The default groups like Project Managers are working fine, but for this new custom it is not. Please, is it possible or may I am missing something?

Hi Ximet,

It doesn't work by default for the custom security groups. You can either add the users manually to both groups (SharePoint and Project Server) or write some custom code to keep the two groups in sync (e.g. when a user is added to a project server group an event handler will be triggered which will add the user to the SharePoint group)

Ximet,

Custom group names wont be populated on SharePoint level. Depending the level of permissions assigned to the group, use will get permissions from different SharePoint\Project groups displayed on the root level.

You can view effective permissions by navigating to People and groups and then by selecting Check permissions button displayed on the ribbon
