Diovani Quick answer to your short question: yes, database size is an important factor as a multi site collection candidate. Your question is also too generic to answer further. A few things to consider when planning web site structure: Database size per content database Navigation number of library items number of major and minor versions Why not use the Capacity Planning Tool to run some basic tests based on number of users, servers, etc. Read the following for further information: Determine sites and subsites Plan for performance and capacity capacity planning white paper whitepaper Planning and Monitoring SQL Server Storage for Office SharePoint Server: Performance Recommendations and Best Practices

Ok Khipple, thank you. Anyway, I found the reference (Plan for software boundaries - MOSS ) by Microsoft about limit of content database size. I will use this reference to justify a creation of the many sites collections for my project. Regards, Diovani

Diovani- Kanwal points out some geat resources. There is a lot of technical guidance out there and we both know that SQL can support databases in the Terabytes in size. Something to keep in mind is how long do you want to wait for backup/restore processes to take place? A good number from "the street" is to keep your content DB's to around 100GB - this is a reasonable size to deal with. I hope this helps and answers your question-Jeff DeVerter, MCSERackspaceblog:http://www.social-point.comtwitter: http://www.twitter.com/jdeverter
