Create a lot of webs in site collection

 Hi,

Is it possible to create f.ex. 4000 webs in single site collection? What is a recommendation in this area? We have a lot of users and for each one we would like to create dedicated web with dedicated content and permission.

Do you have any experience in such infrastracture?

  Best regards,

  Kamil

  Thank your for your feedback.

We developed custom site definition and for single user (we have 4.000 users) we would like to create new web in single site collection. We are thinking now is it possible to create about 4.000 webs for each one?

Do you now how many webs is it possible to create on one single site collection?

I hope that it's not working in this way that f.ex. when 3500 web was created and suddenly we will get error that is not possible to create a one more?

Did you create sth about 4000 webs on single site collection?

Best regards

Kamil

SharePoint 2013 supports hundreds of thousands sites in a site collection.

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787.aspx specifically it is 250,000

Ok, so it is possible and supported by MS but when users will create such webs in the same time is there any chance to fail during that process?

I found in this artice info: "Attempting to create many subsites at the same time may also fail".

Do you have any information if sharepoint does any queue for user request when webs are being created? And when one user is creating his own web so is there any problem with an access in this time a other user web?

That would depend on the method by which you are creating the sites...CSOM, Web services, server OM, powershell, etc.. I think. I can only say I have created a couple hundred sites with powershell at a time without any issues.

Hi

when you create a lot of site in a powershell script, each one is create one by one , not at the same time

I don't think you started hundred of powershell instances to create your sites at same time

@CaMeL023 : yes it is possible depending on  your farm topology and CPu loading, RAM resources, and also networking bandwidth ( latency/load ) for many site creation process at the same time to have some issues. I recommend you to permit users to create their own sites gradual ( grouping them ) to avoid such issues

  Hi,

At this moment our sites have to be created by end users by clicking final link so it means that many sites will be created in similar or the same time in fact. So is it wrong solution to creating in this way where we should create this one by one?
