Create Web Part Page owssvr.dll Error
Hello, We need to create a web part page in MOSS 2007 but we are receiving "An error has occurred on the server" preventing the creation of any page (the URL is pointing to http://{Site}/_layouts/error.aspx?ErrorText=The%20HTTP%20verb%20POST%20used%20to%20access%20path%20%27%2F%5Fvti%5Fbin%2Fowssvr%2Edll%27%20is%20not%20allowed%2E which seems to indicate a security issue). In the production environment, we were able to perform the exact same operation without any issue (without granting any special access). The following are the steps that we did: Site Actions -> Create Click on “Web Part Page” Type name of aspx file, choose a layout and a library and click Create. The error appears right away. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, ME-LDV

Hi, The actual error is as follows: http://{Site}/_layouts/error.aspx?ErrorText=The HTTP verb POST used to access path '/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll' is not allowed. There might be a custom event handler causing this. Is this issue only occuring on web-part pages or does it happen on other things you try to create? I'd start comparing the differences between this farm and your production. Start with the web.configs and then the 12 hives.Regards, Savoeurn Va Microsoft Online Community Support

Hi, Thanks for your reply. It turned out that an HttpModule was interfering with Sharepoint. We modified the HttpModule and Sharepoint seems to be working now. Thanks, ME-LDV.
