Typically these are created in Active Directory and are used during the installation process. In general, we like to see the following accts used during a farm installation: (you names can and shoudl vary) svc-sql: local admin on the SQL server used to run SQL services svc-farm: acct used for installation, database access and the Central Admin pool - needs a minimum of dbcreator and security admin on the SQL server, may have permissions reduced post install svc-pool: security identity used to launch the IIS application pools svc-crawl: content access account for search svc-admin: interactive acct for administration of SharePoint (don't use the FARM account for this! bad things happen if you lock out the farm account!) You can fnd more detailed informatio non service acct requirements here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263445(office.12).aspx Good luck!Chris McNulty MCSE/MCTS/MSA/MVTS http://www.kma-llc.net | blog http://blogs.kma-llc.net/microknowledge | twitter @cmcnulty2000
