Could not deploy OS using Prestage Content

I have a SCCM 2012 R2 Primary site in Head Office, and a Distribution Point in Branch Office. To reduce network bandwidth consumption, I hope to perform OS deployment using OS Image and Boot Image that has prestaged content.

I have distributed the contents, then copy and extract the prestaged contents in DP. Until the contents is available in DP. So I able to create a task sequence using prestaged contents.

But, when task sequence running in the client, PXE boot is aborted.

Then I find following this message in SMSPXE.log from Branch DP :

Looking for bootImage
00:15:5D:01:14:00, D4E6417E-D3EA-4692-9752-6D17AD681310: could not find boot image
00:15:5D:01:14:00, D4E6417E-D3EA-4692-9752-6D17AD681310: aborting PXE process

Looking for bootImage
00:15:5D:01:14:00, D4E6417E-D3EA-4692-9752-6D17AD681310: could not find boot image
00:15:5D:01:14:00, D4E6417E-D3EA-4692-9752-6D17AD681310: Not serviced

Except if not using prestaged content, the PXE boot is able to run in the client and OS Deployment is succeed.

How I can deploy OS using prestage content? Or, if it is not possible?

Hi,

Are the boot images marked for use with PXE distributed to the DP? What if you redistribute the Boot images used for PXE if they already are pre-staged and then verify the SMSPXE.log again.

I had to have both an x86 boot image and a x64 boot image on each of my DP's, even though we only use x64. Do you see your boot images in your  RemoteInstall\SMSImages  folder on the DP?

Hi Jorgen,

Sorry for late reply, appreciate for your respon.

Yes, boot image has marked from the PXE-enabled distribution point.

Actually, I have added boot image WinPE 3.1 that extracted from WAIK for Win 7, to deploy Win 7 OS to clients. The boot image 3.1 has enabled Lab Shell to "TRUE" and enabled PXE distribution point. Then has created as prestage content and success availabled in DP.

But, when I'm running PXE boot in the client, the boot image could not be found and aborted process in accordance displayed in smspxe.log on my DP.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, I see.

Can you review my comments above?
