Correct run steps to avoid duplicates
I run several GAL synch's with EXTERNAL forests in order to share GAL information (7 MA's in total) One of our external organizations deleted all of the contacts on their end. My question is - what would be the correct run step order to rewrite these contacts back to them again? I assume that the reason they have not yet been written back to their directory is becuase thosse objects are still/already in their MA Connector space, so FIM assumes they've already been written to their directory. My biggest concern is that the contacts will be duplicated when exporting them again. TAG

not seeing your exact setup, I'll speak 'generically' Where there is a change such as you described, I would 1st - Import the MA with the deletions. The MA stats should show the deletions it found. 2nd run a delta sync on the same MA. this will allow FIM to respond to the deletions, likely by recreating exports for the items that were removed. Once that happens, I would use the 'search conector space' - 'pending exports' to make sure your exports look correct If everything is in order, you can then do the exports and your contact should be recreated.Frank C. Thank you Frank, once they are ready to go I will try those steps. However, can you explain to me why the GAL SYNCH does not recognize that these contacts have been deleted on their end, and as such, remove them from their connector space? We run deltas nightly, with a full synch/export once a week - should the full synch not have realized the contacts had been deleted from their directory?TAG

It would be the import step (full or delta) that would bring the deletions into FIM's knowledge - the sync's will do the work of creating the replacements - and export will write those back out to AD.Frank C. Drewes III - Senior Consultant: Oxford Computer Group
