Corporate Intranet - only one place/region - type of top-level site ?
Hi browsing around..reading various links....lots of doubt... On a new corporate Intranet based on SP 2010 enterprise - planned so far: one web-app with one site collection (for starters) but which site template are commonly used as the top-level site ? - and why ? Team Site Blog Site Document Workspace Document Center Records Center Basic Meeting Workspace Decision Meeting Workspace Social Meeting Workspace Blank Meeting Workspace Multipage Meeting Workspace Group Work Site Enterprise Wiki Personalization Site Visio Repository Publishing Site Publishing Site with Workflows Blank Site I know it depends much on the company....but what are "best practice" ? - and what are your thoughts?

I like to make the top site a publishing site. Then under it can be whatever. This is because the top level site will seldom be collaborative. It will be more informative, and the publishing works better for that, IMHO. That being said, this is based on my 2007 experience, but you've asked about a 2010. Thus, the moderator will be forced to move this to the appropriate section.Steve Clark, MCTS | Twin-Soft.com
