Copy site (with subsites) from a production server to a development server
Hi What is the best way (if you post the steps, better for me) to copy a site (with subsites, and developed webparts) from a production server to a development server? Thank you in advanced Matt

How have you deployed the web parts? If it's via WSP, deploy these to yor test environment (including any third party vendor web parts), as well as any other customisations. Then, use the STSADM application to take a back-up the site in question and restore this to your development server. You could also install the customizations that you created (as stated above, via Features/Solutions) and then do DB attach. Make a backup copy of the database in Production, restore it to Development, and then add the DB to the web application via Central Administration. - MMichael Mukalian | Jan 2010 - Dec 2010 MVP SharePoint Services | MCTS: MOSS 2007 Configuration | http://www.mukalian.com/blog
