Copy SharePoint 2007 - not move
Hello, I need to copy existing SharePoint 2007. Right now I have SharePoint 2007 running on Windows 2008 64-bit and DB is on another Windows 2008 64-bit server. I need to copy it on Windows 2008R2 server. Both, SharePoint and DBs should be on this box. Can you help me with this? Thank you.

Hi, You need to install and configure both SQL server and SharePoint 2007 Server on the new Windows Server then move your Content DB from the old DB server to the new one, you may follow the following post http://ahmed-ammar.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-move-sharepoint-content-database.html Best Regards, Ammar MCT http://ahmed-ammar.blogspot.com Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Basically as Ahmed says, you will need to setup the Windows Server 2008R2, install SQL, install SP2007. Run the config wizard and setup Config DB, Central Admin. Setup your web applications exactly as the 'old server'. Then copy your content dbs from 'old server' to new server - attach content db and you are good to go! Hi Igor, No it's all in the database - workflows, content types - so you will not have to create them. Setup the new server with empty/dummy content databases for your web application and then detach content db, attach content db to the web application. I am assuming that you will be on the same domain and hence your credentials for the db should not be a problem. One word of caution though, make sure your SharePoint Patch Levels are the same on both the servers - for example if you have applied SharePoint SP2 + Cumulative Updates on the 'old server' then the 'new server' should be on the same patch level.
