Copy Profile in SCCM
Hello Mitch, Thanks for your articles on MDT and SCCM. I have been reading them since quite a long time and have been able to learn and do loads of OS Deployment stuffs. Recently I have been trying to do Copy Profile concept for windows 7. Earlier windows OS had an easy approach to do Copy Profile, but it seems its quite complicated now. However, I successfully did Copy Profile using MDT 2012, but doing the same with SCCM is not yielding me the desired result. I have come across many articles, where in they have suggested to do copy profile during the Sysprep & Capture time by passing \unattend switch in Sysprep Command. But as per Microsoft articles and your topics, we should carry out Copy profile during the deployment stage. I am following the same and hence during the windows setup step of SCCM OSD deployment, an error occurs stating that unatted.xml could not be parsed during windows shell setup phase. I have tried all the possible ways to come over it and yet to find the solution. While I have learnt that the cause for the problem might be that MDT runs TS in System Account and SCCM runs TS in Local administrator account. My network has been configured to deploy OS using SCCM, hence I must find out a solution for this error. I have been struggling a lot with this issue and I kindly request you to suggest me what can be done to overcome this

Hi, How have you modifed the Unattend.xml file? it sounds like it could be corrupt or in the wrong format. Have you used the Windows System Image Manager and modified the CopyProfile to True in the Specialize Pass ? Then it should work just fine.. But as you say if you want to copy settings from applications beeing isntalled for instance it is another topic, When using MDT all installations are made under the local administrator account, in SCCM 2012 they are made with the System account so you must have that in mind as well.. If you only want to make simple changes I recommend this.. http://www.mockbox.net/windows-7-tips/226-windows-7-default-profile-with-configmgr Regads, Jrgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I created and edited the unattend.xml using system image manager. However now i used the unattend.xml created using the deployment workbench->depolymentshare->tasksequence properties->osinfo->edit Unattend.xml and now its working fine with SCCM as well. I checked the logs in c:\windows\panther\unattendgc and it indicates that the Copy profile has been done successfully. Few of the settings have not got replicated after the copy profile, like Disable Action Center Messages, Enale Telnet Client etc.. I also wanted to know, how is it possible to set the computer Names dynamically during the Build. I want to set my custom computer names for each system which has been built through SCCM.
