I have created several reports in SSRS 2008 and used several placeholders inside a text box that evaluate to data fields. I need to convert these reports to SSRS 2005 because our client has SQL Server 2005. Unfortunately I can't seem to find an equivalent feature. Please help.

Hi Wyasin, One of the major advances in SSRS 2008 was the introduction of placeholders. Earlier versions of SSRS relied on text boxes and tables placed in Approximatly the correct location on the page. Each text box can have an expression in so you will end up with an expression in each text box ie. =Fields!FirstName.Value + " " + Fields!LastName.Value Each text box can only have on type of formatting on it ie , BOLD, Underline. Maintaining alignment and formatting will be more time consuming in SSR S2005 than the same report SSRS 2008. Hope this helps , Robert Edgson

There is no automated way of doing this. you will need to manually create seperate textboxes for what you want to achieve. http://blog.hoegaerden.be/2009/04/07/the-power-of-the-placeholder/ explains what problem placeholders have resolved. So you need to do the opposite unfortunately.
