Contents and Structure : folder already contains object with that name(s) xxx.doc"- Overwrite
Hi All,I have 2 document libraries (A &B)and when ever i need t omake changes in an item in document library A, i move it to Document library B , do customize and later move it back to A. I was using explorer view for acheiving the same.I am now using contents and structure to preserve the metadata fields added to the document library. on moving the items back from B to folder in A, it give the message : folder already contains object with that name(s) xxx.doc with only option as OK.There is no way i can findhow to overwrite the existing file other than renaming it and later moving. Is this a default behaviour with contents and structure. Any idea???PLease help me out in resolving this issue.....Thanks In Advance..... Regards, Aj (http://www.ajittgeorge.blogspot.com) MCTS

What the issue i mentioned above can be summarised as :1. Can we get the overwriting functionality in sharepoint while using contents and structure.2. Any other means other than contents and structure to move files preserving metadata. (not third party tools, which are plenty in number)3. Any sites which describes the limitation ( if the above issue is a limitation of MOSS 2007)Thanks All,Regards, Aj (http://www.ajittgeorge.blogspot.com) MCTS

Hi, I think it is a default behavior that it cannot overwrite the existing file when moving file in Site Content and structure. I suppose that you firstly copy file from library A to library B, then move file from B to A. I think you can firstly move file from library A to library B, then move it. This is because that after moving the file to B, it will delete the file from A. Hope it helps. Xue-Mei Chang
