Content Type Sync Issue

Hi,

I am facing issue with content type sync. I have tested the below scenarios -

1. Add new content type in CTH and run the timer job -- Sync Worked

2. Change the column order -- Didn't work

3. Change the column order and add one new column -- Sync worked (column order updated and new column got added)

4. Change the column order and remove one column -- Column got removed, however column order didn't update.

Every time Timer job (Content Type Subscriber) ran successfully. As its updating in few scenarios, it doesn't looks like permission issue. Can anyone suggest what could be blocking the column order updates?

Thanks,

Anoop

Hi Anoop,

I'd like to confirm you that you are using SharePoint server 2013, and once you change the column order in content type, it is not updated in subscriber site.

If you change the column order in Content Type Hub and republish it, does the issue still occur?

Please make your SharePoint product up-to-date.

Hi Rebecca,

I am using SharePoint 2013 with SP1.

Yes, I am facing the same issue if I change the column order in Content Type Hub and republish it.

Thanks,

Hi Anoop,

I tested the issue per your description:

  1. Create a new web application and create a root site collection for Content Type Hub.
  2. Update Managed metadata service application.
  3. Create a custom content type inheriting from Item and add two new site columns.
  4. Publish the content type and manually run timer job till I can see this content type in another web application.

Please try the steps below as I did and column order change was synced to normal web application.

  1. Change column order in content type in CTH.
  2. Manage publishing for this content type > Republish.
  3. Manually run Content Type Subscriber timer job and check timer job status.
  4. CTH Site Settings > Site Collection Administration > Content Type Publishing. Check the Refresh all Published Content types on next update and click OK.
  5. Wait for a while and check the issue again.

In addition, does the issue occur to all content types or a specific content type? If this is the first time the issue occurs and it occurs to most content type, I'd suggest you restart from the beginning and re-configure CTH per that article.

Hi Rebecca,

This is exactly what I have tried. However, didn't fix the issue. The Server is build from the scratch 2 weeks ago and CTH is created newly.

Thanks,

Anoop

Hi Anoop,

If the issue occurs to all content types for specific one?

If only specific content type has issue, could you please provide more detail about this content type and I will try to reproduce it in my envrionment.

Please test the issue on a custom content type.
