Content Organizer Rule

Hi,

I am planning to create a rule

If document has not been modified for 6 months in a document library,to send an notification using power shell.

For this I am not able to apply the suitable condition through OOB.

Should i go by applying with power shell or will I be able to apply the suitable condition to meet the requirement?

Please share your inputs on the same.

Sudheer

What exactly aren't you able to do in the Content Organiser? Sending a notification if a document hasn't been updated in 6 months is pretty basic.

If you're using PowerSHell then you're going to have to completely re-invent the content organizer behaviour. You'll need to create a scheduled task that checks all files for the relevant criteria and then sends the email.

Hi,

Instead of using power shell script.

I am trying to do this using Content Organizer rule.

But I am not able to apply the condition for this under Property.

You need to provide more details of what exactly you're trying to do and why you can't. Modified date should be trivial:

I understand English may not be your native language but without more detail we can't help.

Hi,

I am able to achieve now.

Earlier the reason why i was not able to achieve is

Under Condition, was not able to see the Date Modified property to select.

Now i have added site Date Modified site column to Document content type.

Post selecting Document content types while creating rules, able to select Date Modified property.

Now Date Modified property has set to less than operator to six months back date.

Post this I am able to see the respective documents in DropOfflibrary.

Hi,

But through content organizer rule, can i set condition to trigger an email to document author if document has not been modified from past 6 months.

Because I am not able to see the relevant property under the condition.

Please share your idea on the same.

Hi,

As I understand, you want to trigger an email to document author if the document has not been modified from past 6 months in SharePoint 2013.

As my knowledge, the content organizer rules cannot trigger an email according to your requirement.

There is a workaround. You could create the workflow in the document library according to your requirement.  You could add if condition to check if the modified date is greater than 6 months. Then if the modified date is greater than 6 months, you could add send email action to send email to the document author.

The article below is about creating a workflow by using SharePoint Designer 2013 and the SharePoint 2013 Workflow platform.
