Content Deployment Jobs are stuck

I have been experiencing issues with Content Deployment to my SP2010 environment. Jobs get stuck and never complete. I have tried following steps but nothing helped. (OS - Windows Server 2008R2, SP Version - 2010 SP2 )

1. Cancel running Content Deployment jobs

2. Reset timer Job (SPTimerv4)

3. Reset SP Adminstration Service.

4. Restarted Server.

5. Unprovisioned/Re-provisioned Central Admin.

One interesting thing I noticed while troubleshooting is General Application Settings > Content Deployment Settings > I don't have a server listed for Import/Export of incoming/outgoing Deployment Jobs and I don't see option to select one. I tried to re-provision Central Admin on this server with understanding that value should be auto populated for Selection.

Hi Kalyan,

How did you provision the Central Admin site?

Please check if the Central Administration service has been started in the Manage service on server page.

I recommend to run the command below to re-provision Central Administration site:

Get-SPServiceInstance | Where-Object {$_.TypeName eq Central Administration} | Start-SPServiceInstance

After that, please run the command below to check the status of the Central Administration service status and make sure that it is online:

Get-SPServiceInstance | Where-Object {$_.TypeName eq Central Administration}

Please also check if the application pool for Central Administration site is running in Internet Information Services(IIS).

Thanks Victoria for trying to help.

I tried Unprovision/Re-Provision through Powershell as well as Configuration Wizard. Central Administration service has been started in the Manage service on server page. Central Administration Service Instance Status is showing Online. App pool for Central Administration is running in IIS.

Weird thing is why I wouldn't have an Server to select as "Import Server" or "Export Server" Under Content Deployment settings (Drop Down is completely blank.)

All Deployment jobs get stuck and doesn't start at all even after mutiple SPTimerv4, SP Admin Service, Server Restarts. Cleared Config Cache also.

Hi Kalyan,

For this issue, please check ULS log for more detailed error message for further research.

For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS.

And please also check this KB to see if your issue can be resolved:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/969565

To narrow down the issue scope, please create a new content deployment timer job to see how it works.

Thanks,

Victoria
