Content DB User management
Hi, I would like to know, I have been trying to change some setting in Central Admin. Now I have to change the content db uer details as we think this maybe a problem. I do not need permission to do anything as I am an administrator on the site and we develop sites. This is a test site. (So please do not post that I need to get permission from someone etc) Please could someone tell me how to see who has access to the database and how can I change it?

Hi there. Access to the actual content database is handled by the security mechanism on SQL Server. Start the SQL Server Management Studio, from there you can view and modify who can access the DB in question. Needless to say, modifying SharePoint databases directly is non-supported, or rather leave your entire SharePoint farm in an unsupported state, so be very careful with what you are doing. Hope this helps. Regards, MagnusMy blog: InsomniacGeek.com

Hi I am trying to create a site's site collection. Once I create the site / Web application I try to create the site collection right after. It gives me an error: The Office SharePoint Server Standard Web application features feature must be activated at the web application level before this feature can be activated. Right, now when I try to activate this feature it says access denied but I am set up as an administrator on the site with full access to everything. I can also chage the default port 80 site's stuff but not anything now? This worked fine when I created previous sites? What am I doing wrong? Is there something I can do? The Database was previously set up with a different user. Can it be that it still tries to use the previous account? If so, where can I go and chage the user of the content db? Jurie

Normally, your application pool for the Central Administration application should be running with something known as the farm account. This account should have the necessary permissions on the databases. Please check whether this is the case. References: Account permissions and security settings Database permissions Hope this helps.
